Chargers vs. Raiders: Betting odds, lines, picks against the spread

The Chargers are missing key players on both sides of the ball, but center Corey Linsley’s concussion is the most concerning of those injuries and one that could shift the line against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Here’s a betting breakdown of Sunday’s encounter between AFC West’s rivals:

Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders (PK, 50.5)

Some Southern California residents who spent Thanksgiving weekend in Sin City are likely making their way back to I-15 to see their beloved Chargers battle the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. This game means more to the Chargers than the Raiders given each team’s overall standings and remaining strength of the schedule. However, we’ve seen that line leak to a pick ’em due to the litany of injuries for the Chargers.

Although Derwin James Jr. and Mike Williams will make headlines, the worst injury for the Chargers this week is Linsley’s concussion. Linsley ranks as the top 2 center in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus and is the undisputed leader of the offensive line. Trey Pipkins III’s injury is another big one, as starting right tackle and cluster injuries are always notable, but Linsley means it all from a pass protection perspective.

This season’s results tell us that the Chargers would not be able to run the ball as they rank 30th in yards per carry. Though LA ranks sixth in passing yards and passing touchdowns, it’s worth noting that some advanced stats like EPA (expected points added) and success rate rate the Chargers’ passing game as below average. Offensive line injuries only reduce the likelihood of efficiency and success.

Defensively, the Chargers could get a little help if Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is unable to leave. The Raiders just rushed 283 yards for the Seahawks and have touched nearly 300 yards in their last two games. I’m still not sure if that will be enough help. The Chargers are limping into this game while it seems like the Raiders, who have won two close games in a row after starting 5-0 in games decided by six points or fewer, are on the rise .

Choice: Raiders
