New Chelsea manager Poch said: “I’m hoping to have some time to call and see him because he’s a great guy and I want to talk to him a bit.” I want to help him and see what’s going on is.”

Midfielder Alli is only 27 years old, but his career as a top-flight player seems to be over. He’s overwhelmed at Everton after a disastrous loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas last season.

There were questions about his off-pitch lifestyle and in April a photo surfaced of him surrounded by canisters of nitrous oxide – or nitrous oxide.

Poch added: “He’s still young. Certainly he has the right mentality.”

Alli was at Everton for pre-season training this week and is regaining his fitness after being sidelined by injury at Besiktas.

The midfielder was reportedly one of the first senior players to report to Finch Farm for pre-season training on Thursday.

And the former England international sported a new hair color while working out on the exercise bike.

Alli has opted for a bold blue look, suggesting he is determined to succeed at Goodison Park.

Toffees boss Sean Dyche has yet to speak about Alli’s future, which he was reluctant to dig into following his appointment as manager.

In April he said: “He’s not here. He has an injury that will keep him out for a while.”

“Some of the things reported – they know what they should and shouldn’t do.”

“As a manager, you can’t control everything in their life.”
