Chelsea ‘launch shock £48million transfer bid to hijack Liverpool’s move for Southampton star Romeo Lavia’

CHELSEA have launched a shock £48m bid to beat Liverpool against Romeo Lavia.

Southampton want £50m for the 19-year-old Belgium midfielder after he reportedly turned down “multiple” offers from Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

But Athletic’s David Ornstein showed that the blues are pushing hard on Lavia.

The relegated Saints realize it’s a losing battle to keep him.

And Lavia’s exit would be a double whammy as West Ham are hot on their heels for Southampton’s England midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Ornstein claimed Chelsea’s offer was for “£48million including surcharges” and stated: “The dialogue is ongoing.”

Manchester United is also associated with the strong teenager.

But over the past two weeks, Liverpool have proved favorites to sign the ex-Manchester City player.

Now, however, Pochettino makes a late call for Lavia AND at least one other Prem midfielder.

Chelsea are said to be getting ever closer to signing Moises Caicedo.

For any Blues fans confused by the ongoing transfer merry-go-round at Stamford Bridge, there was at least some reassuring news.

Academy freshman Reece James, 23, has been named the new captain ahead of Thiago Silva.
