Slonina, 18, is on his way to London to complete a medical and if successful he will sign the deal which will see him end the current MLS campaign on loan to The Fire and then goes to Chelsea on January 1st.

Long considered one of the jewels of Fire’s Academy, Slonina took over as first-team goalkeeper last season at the age of 17. When Slonina made his professional debut on August 4, he became the youngest starting goalkeeper in league history at 17 years and 81 days.

Slonina has endured a season of ups and downs in 2022, but he now has 14 shutouts in 34 league games after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Atlanta United.

Born in Addison, Illinois, Slonina has a Polish passport through his parents but earlier this year declared his intention to represent USA, for whom he has appeared with several teams at youth level.
