Chelsea star stunned to see Cole Palmer on England duty as he says ‘I didn’t realise you were called up’

CHELSEA fans labeled Cole Palmer “the funniest guy in the world” after a team-mate was stunned to see him in action for England.

The 21-year-old star broke former manager Pep Guardiola’s heart with a dramatic late penalty to earn the Blues a 4-4 draw against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

It was Palmer’s fourth goal for the Blues since joining from the Cityzens on a seven-year deal on September 1.

His impressive form for the west London side has now been rewarded with a first call-up to the England senior team.

Palmer now hopes to make his Three Lions debut in Friday’s European Championship qualifier against Malta.

Failing that, the star who helped England win the European Under-21 Championship in July could get a chance under Gareth Southgate in Monday’s clash with North Macedonia.

Palmer and the rest of the England squad met yesterday to prepare for action.

And in footage from St George’s Park shared by the English social media account, Palmer can be seen greeting his Chelsea teammate Conor Gallagher.

However, it seems Gallagher was shocked to see him on international duty.

“Congratulations, I didn’t know you were called up,” says the 23-year-old, who has played ten international matches, about the talent.

“Yes, it was straight after the game,” Palmer replied, adding: “I thought it was a shame at first. I swear.”

The clip, which was accompanied by a laughing emoji and the caption “Definitely real Cole,” was soon shared by Chelsea fans.

And they appear to be falling even more in love with the £42.5million summer signing.

“This guy is hilarious,” declared one supporter.

“Haha, I really like Cole Palmer. Such a clumsy boy but he’ll be huge,” said another.

Another fan commented: “Most relaxed footballer ever.”

While another added: “He makes me laugh.”
