Child, 10, woman and man mauled in dog attack in Huddersfield as ‘family pet’ is taken away

A 10-year-old child, a woman and a man were injured after being mauled by a dog.
The schoolchild and the man suffered serious leg injuries in the attack by a pit bull dog in Huddersfield on Monday.
The woman was bitten on the hand before West Yorkshire Police were called.
Officers managed to get the dog, described as a family pet, under control before taking it away.
The alarmed population had called the police.
The victims’ injuries were described as serious but not life-changing.
Police said they were called just before 1pm after a dog reportedly attacked people in the back yard of a house.
Police told Sun Online tonight: “Officers were at the address where an adult woman sustained a bite wound to the hand and a man sustained a severe bite wound to the leg.”
“A child who was present had also suffered a serious bite injury.
“All were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.”
“The dog was safe on the property and was confiscated.”
Police previously said the dog was a “family pet described as a pit bull type.”
