Cobra Kai season 6 release updates, cast and everything we know so far

Time to claim your favorite dojo because Cobra Kai officially returns for a new season. We’ve been following all the big news via Cobra Kai Season 6, and luckily there’s another development to share with the fans.

The beloved nostalgic comedy last added new episodes in September 2022, and as the months went by without an announcement of a renewal, fans were starting to get nervous. But thankfully, Netflix greenlit the series and they’re calling this the “biggest” and “baddest” season. It will also mark the final season.

Cobra Kai is a sequel to the classic karate kid Films in which many of the original cast members reprise their roles. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka face off as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, respectively, more than 30 years after the first film. Now dads, the two have different perspectives than when they were kids, but they still bump into each other every now and then.

Cobra Kai Season 6 is the final season

The makers of Cobra Kai, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg shared a letter with fans through Netflix today with the announcement. They explain the decision to end the show, realizing they wanted to wrap it up Cobra Kai “on our terms” While they see this as the end of the story, they tease that there could be spin-offs at some point in the future.

Has Cobra Kai Season 6 Filming Started?

Although new episodes will be released in September 2022, the cast and crew have not yet started filming Cobra Kai Season 6. Jon Hurwitz confirmed on Twitter that the writers room for Cobra Kai season 6 just started writing the season in February 2023.

With Cobra Kai Season 6 still in the writing process, we’re still quite a while away from the start of production and that doesn’t bode well for the release date. However, we do have some updates on when production might begin.

Accordingly Fans who attended the Cobra Kai Panel discussion at Atlanta Comic-Con In February 2023, Ralph Macchio passed on production Cobra Kai Season 6 starts in May 2023.

Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t yet confirmed the start of production in May, but that’s not unusual. Netflix usually waits until production officially begins before revealing big news like this to fans.

As we’ve seen with other seasons of the show, the cast and crew can work on this show pretty quickly. We’ve seen shorter gaps in between Cobra Kai seasons than we’ve seen for pretty much every other Netflix show.

Does Cobra Kai Season 6 have a release date yet?

Cobra Kai Season 6 has no release date yet. We probably won’t know the release date for a while, but there’s an interesting crease to share with fans.

However, if production starts in May, we have to assume that it will continue through the summer and autumn. In post-production, we’re looking at late 2023 or early 2024 as the release date.

As of now, a late 2023 release date is almost out of the question given that production starts so late in the year. It might be too late for a 2023 release anyway. Plus, Cobra Kai Season 6 will be the final season of the series. Netflix will launch the season at a time when it can stand alone and shine and I don’t think Christmas or New Year’s Day would be that time.

The other part of this equation is that they teased “COBRA KAI’S BIGGEST SEASON YET” in the January 2023 renewal announcement. We don’t know exactly what that means, but we have to assume that it could mean more choreography, more action sequences, possibly new locations and more.

We would like to see Cobra Kai Season 6 before Spring 2024, but it doesn’t seem that likely. For now, expect to see Cobra Kai Season 6 in Spring 2024.

Cobra Kai season 6 teaser

It’s still too early for the officer Cobra Kai Season 6 trailer, but Netflix has released a teaser video announcing the final season. It doesn’t look like there’s any new footage in the clip, but it’s still enough to get fans excited about the news. We are so excited to see our favorite characters back on our screens and can’t wait to see how the story ends! Watch the video here:

Will Hilary Swank Join Cobra Kai Season 6?

There was so much gossip about Hilary Swank playing Julie Pierce in it The next karate kid Joining the cast of Cobra Kai Season 6. So far there have been no confirmations that it will happen. Of course we want it to happen! We’ve seen so many great Karate Kid cameos in five seasons. It would make a lot of sense to bring Julie Pierce back, especially as these characters will be competing in a global tournament in the sixth and final season.

Swank previously mentioned that she wasn’t asked to be on the show. Macchio recently shared his thoughts on the matter, mentioning that he’d be open to it, according to CinemaBlend.

If they can work Swank into the series, it will most likely be revealed before the Season 6 premiere. It’s hard to keep big stars a secret in 2023!

Cobra Kai season 5 ends and what it means for season 6

The end of Cobra Kai Season 5 is So wild, but we have a feeling Season 6 is about to get even more eventful. Kreese escapes from prison in the season 5 finale, so we’re sure he’ll be a main cast member in the next season and likely seek revenge on Silver again. We’ll be curious to see what his relationship with Daniel and Johnny will be like considering the two of them kind of made amends in season 5. There’s a chance they’ll team up in the new season.

Tory and Robby are back together at the end of season five, as are Sam and Miguel. We predict Season 6 will give both couples the happy endings they deserve. Johnny and Carmen’s relationship is also getting more serious and in season six they will most likely welcome a baby into the world. Johnny will no doubt struggle with fatherhood once again, but I think he’ll do a better job this time.

The stakes are high Cobra Kai Season 6, and we’re so happy the story continues for another episode! Cobra Kai is one of the best shows on Netflix right now!
