BOGOTÁ, Colombia — Voters began voting on Sunday in a presidential election that pits six candidates against each other, one of them a former left-wing guerrilla whose promises to overhaul the country’s economic system have given him a comfortable lead in the polls.

Gustav Petroa 62-year-old former member of the M-19 rebel group that disarmed in 1990 had up to 41% support in recent polls, surpassing Federico Gutiérrez, a 47-year-old former Medellin mayor who has the support of the president Ivan Dukes Conservative Party and Rodolfo Hernández, a 77-year-old populist real estate tycoon.
