Comic-Con Let Down: Henry Cavill Doesn’t Show For WB Panel Despite ‘Superman’ Rumors

It was rumored last weekend that Henry Cavill would be attending Comic-Con on behalf of Warner Bros., but the time never came and there was no sign of the red cape in the sky. According to a Deadline report, there were rumors that Cavill would actually be attending the event this weekend to discuss more about “Superman” during the WB/DC panel that just ended. However, Cavill was nowhere to be seen.

Fans were excited at the prospect of Henry starring in more films. However, it seems that it is not written in the stars. This would have been the ideal time to unveil some sort of strategy about what Warner — now merged with Discovery — will do with their most valuable IP, but it seems they’re still unsure about the direction the brand should take .

Comic-Con disappointment: Henry Cavill not showing up for WB panel despite ‘Superman’ rumours

The Rock actually references Superman in a possible match-up in the new Shazam! 2 and Black Adam trailers that WB released instead of “Superman” news. While Dwayne kept details under wraps, he also gave an important clue about the upcoming fight between his character and Clark Kent. He says he won’t answer that question right away because it depends on who is portraying old Superman. Or Henry hasn’t been cast yet.

We’ll continue to hold our breath as Cavill has been a fan favorite for the past decade and his take on Superman has been revered. While this was a disappointment, WB will be pushing their own DC film universe, and with the likes of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the helm of the long-awaited Black Adam, we could still see Cavill return.
