“Retail connections see some softening as consumers face higher prices, and residential real estate connections see weakness as buyers face higher prices and interest rates rise,” the Fed said Wednesday in its recurring collection of business anecdotes from around the country, called the Beige Book. The report details the latest effects of high inflation and a tight labor market.
