Despite Evelyn’s attempts to keep her and Tyrone apart, the mechanic discovered who she really was.

Cassie had vowed to stay clean while she and Ty bonded and got to know each other.

On tonight’s show, however, she fell back into old habits.

Viewers watched as Tyrone struggled to buy Ruby new boots ahead of her birthday party.

Since the mechanic was back at work, Cassie offered to drive into town and get them for him.

Ty hesitated at first, but handed her the money.

After she didn’t come back, Evelyn and Tyrone went to find her, only to find that she was unconscious from an overdose of pills.

Hope cried as she screamed, “She’s dead” and watched her lifeless grandmother walk on the cobblestones.

Luckily, Cassie regained consciousness, later released herself from the hospital, and arrived back in Weatherfield.

However, she was not well received as Tyrone clarified that she could not stay in the house.

She had to return to the apartment when Evelyn moved back in with Ty and the girls.

Corrie viewers took to social media to comment on the dramatic scenes.

One said: “That was devastating.”

A second wrote: “Oh my god I can’t believe this just happened.”

A third wrote: “Oh poor Cassie. That was awful.”

While a fourth commented: “Drug addiction is serious.”

Coronation Street is broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX.
