Cranford stabbing: Police officer swarmed by mob and attacked with a hammer while helping assault victim on high street

Police officers were surrounded by a mob and attacked with a hammer while trying to help a knife victim.
A 31-year-old man was injured in the knife attack before an angry crowd turned on police officers in Cranford, west London this afternoon.
An officer was attacked by a hammer-wielding bat, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
Fortunately, they did not suffer serious injuries and required hospital treatment.
The stabbing victim is being treated for a laceration that is believed to be non-life threatening.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
