NEW YORK — Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York on Saturday on charges of strangulation, assault and molestation, authorities said.
New York police said Majors, star of the recently released Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded to an 911 call at around 11 a.m. at an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

“The victim informed police that she was being assaulted,” an NYPD spokesman said in a statement. “Officers took the 33-year-old man into custody without incident. The victim suffered minor head and neck injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.”
He has not been in police custody since Saturday night, the NYPD spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press.
A representative for the majors denied any wrongdoing by the actor.
“He did nothing wrong,” the rep said in an email to the AP on Saturday. “We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
Majors is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. Following his breakthrough role in 2019’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Majors has starred in Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall and last year’s Devotion. He also stars in the recent Sundance Film Festival entry, Magazine Dreams, to be released by Searchlight Pictures in December.
