Dad issues warning after dog bought for £200 on Facebook scalps son, 6, in savage attack

A father has issued an urgent warning after a dog he bought for £200 on Facebook scalped his young son in a brutal attack.

Six-year-old Vick Zidko was dragged down the stairs of his family’s home by a vicious American, Staffordshire, who bit him in the head and back.

The young lad’s life was saved when his family forced the dog’s jaws open to release him.

Vick spent five days in the hospital and received 50 stitches to his head and face while doctors reattached his scalp.

Now his father is warning other Brits not to make the same mistake his family made.

Vitalijus told The mirror: “It’s a nightmare and we don’t want another family to have to go through something like this.”

He says the family thought “long and hard” about getting a dog before spotting the Staffie pup, which was on sale for just £200.

Vitalijus explained: “When we saw him, he was all soft and jumping around. He won our hearts,” said the 41-year-old.

“But when we brought him home, it turned out that he was completely untrained.”

Vick’s sister Gabriel, 18, witnessed the horror attack.

She said: “Vick came down the stairs quietly and Diesel started barking. He lunged at Vick and dragged him down two steps. It was like considering Vick a chew toy. He romped him around and scratched him.

“I started screaming and my stepfather [Vitalijus] and mom ran in. What stuck in my mind was my little brother begging “Stop, Diesel, stop”. I tried to get rid of the dog. My mother screamed, “Oh my god, stop it, stop it!”.

“My stepdad jumped in front of me and tried to strangle the dog and that’s when my mom picked up Vick. My stepfather told me to call an ambulance and he went for it [the dog] in the bathroom.”

Vick’s mother Eugenija, 41, says the whole family is traumatized after the horrific attack.

She explained: “I grabbed Vick and ran into the bedroom and locked the door. I tried to calm him down. I put a towel on his head to stop the bleeding. He saw all the blood and said, “Mom, am I dying?”.

“Then he asked [his twin brother] Nick and Gabriel okay. The doctors couldn’t believe how Vick kept smiling. He’s my superman.”
