The screening age starts at 50 and the NHS sends out half a million faecal immunochemical test kits (FIT) each month.

But a third of those entitled never send them to a laboratory.

Sun writer Dame Debs died of colon cancer aged 40 last June after raising £7.5million for her BowelBabe fund.

Seb, the father of her two children, said they miss Deborah’s “incredible energy and passion for living life to the fullest.”

He added: “Deborah knew that early diagnosis saves lives and that it would if more people were given access to testing.

“The earlier the diagnosis is made, the more likely it is that treatment will be successful.

“So if you get a test mailed to you, don’t put it off, it could be the difference between life and death.”
