Dana White admits Nate Diaz & Jake Paul should fight next: “That makes sense”

Despite recent and more public contract disputes, UFC President Dana White actually agrees that MMA legend Nate Diaz should be pushing for a fight with Jake Paul next.

Following on from his devastating knockout by Tyron Woodley, Paul included his boxes back for August 6th. However, the upcoming PPV at Madison Square Garden is yet to confirm a dance partner for the social media star.

While various comments have pointed out such Tommy Fury againand even a possible clash with mike tyson, nothing has been made official yet. Therefore, many still throw their names in hopes of a big payday.

One of those names is none other than the Stockton slapper himself, Nate Diaz.

Diaz is currently tied to his existing UFC contract and appears incapable of making the fight. Though even the company’s president has now admitted that such a fight between younger brothers Diaz and Paul “would make sense.”

After pleading for his release on social media just 24 hours earlier, Diaz hinted that he had “bigger things to do” than wait for one final UFC fight.

At a performance on MacLife’s YouTube channelWhite responded directly to the call, acknowledging and even approving of the idea, although he was unwilling to allow it.

“Nate is always…interesting to deal with,” he said. “I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

Without releasing Diaz from his contract, White stated that he had to offer him one last fight in the UFC. However, it is unclear whether Diaz will accept.

Paul’s next opponent is yet to be determined, but a fight on August 6th is still planned.

“I like Nate, but let’s face it, Nate has won a fight in the last five or six years,” White continued.

“When these guys are in these positions, guys who have been with us a long time, you want to be fair to everyone, you want to do the right things. Nate Diaz will not come in and fight Kamaru Usman.”

Rather than positioning the veteran for a fight near the top of the welterweight division, White appears to have other ideas in mind. In fact, he even admitted that a boxer of Paul’s skill level would be suitable for Nate’s next fight.

“He should probably go ahead and fight Jake Paul. This is a fight that makes sense.”

Having made rare exceptions for superfights outside of the UFC in the past, including McGregor vs. Mayweather, there’s always a chance that White and Diaz could agree on a deal for a Paul fight. After all, the UFC president certainly has been open to the idea the collaboration with the Paul brothers.

Also, Jake just offered taking the Diaz fight for free if that gets it over the line.

At the moment, however, it is not possible to say exactly how it could turn out. We’ll just have to wait and see who takes the spot on Paul’s August 6 card.
