Daredevil Showrunner Debunks Rumors About His DCEU Future

Marvel Studios recently made headlines with the announcement that the MCU will include Daredevil in its own Disney+ series. Although the series will have a different host and screenwriting team than its Netflix counterpart, Charlie Cox’s continuation in the role follows. Spider-Man: There’s no way home is sure to keep fans curious and ready to see more.

Former host Steven DeKnight pushed Daredevil in order to get a fourth season after the sudden cancellation in 2018. DeKnight’s schedule is currently tight, making it impossible for him to return to his presenter duties of revival after leading Season 1 on Netflix, although rumors have hinted at a potential move for him to the DC Extended Universe.


James Gunn is currently working on that expansion in the DCEU, and some even believe he will invite DeKnight to work with him on a future project under the banner of Warner Bros. Now, before Daredevil showrunner used social media to clarify those reports in his own words.

Daredevil host Steven DeKnight has denied rumors that he is teaming up with James Gunn on Amanda Waller’s upcoming show in the DC Extended Universe.

DeKnight answered with a fan on Twitter saying he’s working on the mystery show with Gunn, clarifying that “Those rumors are untrue.”


He also took a broader approach with another fan on the thread, affirming the fact that he There’s currently no contract to do anything in the DC universe. “

No DCEU jobs for Former Daredevil Leader

While it’s unclear what DeKnight has planned for the near future, he made sure fans know he’s not involved in any way with anything coming from Marvel or DC. Even with the expertise he showed by starting Netflix Daredevil in 2015, his relationship with anything in the DCEU ended with recent posts on Twitter.

Not much is known about the recently announced Amanda Waller-focused series other than it being picked up from the end People of Peace and again starring James Gunn as executive producer. There is no indication when it will be released on HBO Max or what story it will tell after that People of Peace and Suicide Squadbut it will include someone other than DeKnight as its host.


In the past, DeKnight has talked about wanting to take on Henry Cavill’s version of Superman in the DC Universe, even though it was simply another interaction with a fan on Twitter. For now, however, his schedule remains a mystery as he moves on to other projects outside of the comic book film world.
