David A. Arnold, stand-up comedian who produced ‘Fuller House’ reboot and starred in Netflix specials, dies at 54

LOS ANGELES — David A. Arnold, a comedian who was the producer of the Fuller House reboot and creator and showrunner of Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay, has died. He was 54.

Arnold’s family said in a statement Thursday that doctors had “ruled the cause of death from natural causes.” His family said he died peacefully at his home on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely death of our husband, father, brother and friend, David A. Arnold,” the statement said. “Please keep our family in prayer and respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.”

Arnold was a regular at comedy clubs in the Los Angeles area, including the Improv and the Comedy Store. According to his biography, he lived in Los Angeles.

Fellow comedians posted tributes to their boyfriend.

Kevin Hart, who produced one of Arnold’s stand-up specials, wrote, “You made it out of the mud man… you took life’s biggest hits and got back up. I’ve lost a true friend…I’ve lost a brother.”

Arnold was a stand-up comedian who gained traction for his perspective on fatherhood.

He directed two Netflix comedy specials in 2019, Fat Ballerina and the Kevin Hart-produced It Ain’t for the Weak, which debuted in July. He was also featured at the Netflix is ​​a Joke Comedy Festival in late April.

Arnold was three shows in his four-month comedy tour called Pace Ya Self.

He also wrote episodes for Meet the Browns, The Ricky Smiley Show, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.
