During the press event where DC Studios has unveiled its planned projects for the future of the DC Universenew co-leader James Gunn and Peter Safran outlines what to expect – and also what Not expected. The latter includes every possibility of seeing Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallahis cancelled bat girl Movie.

“Batgirl is a character that we’re bound to include in our story.” diversity quoted Peter Safran at the presentation. “On the Batgirl front, it’s not about the film being canceled too late. I’ve seen the film and there are a lot of incredibly talented people in front of and behind the camera on this film. But this film failed to release, and that happens sometimes. This film was not releasable. I actually think so [president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery David] Zaslav and the team made a very bold and bold decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC. It would have hurt those involved.”

The film was shelved during the inception of Warner Bros. Discovery, much to the disappointment of fans who wanted to support the Leslie Grace-directed film. Safran clarified that he and Gunn are still open to working with the talent behind the film. “I think they really stood up to support DC. The characters, the story, the quality of it all. I spoke to Adil [El Arbi] and Billall [Fallah]– the directors – last week we talked. We’d love to be in business with all of these people. Christina Hodson wrote it. Some people are already back in business with us. Like I said, there were a lot of talented people involved, but the film just wasn’t releasable. It would not have been able to compete in the theater market; it was built for the small screen. I don’t think it was an easy decision, but they made the right decision by putting it on hold.”

So that’s it on the Batgirl front. It is dead dead.
