Disney’s Magic Kingdom abruptly closes part of park after bear spotted searching for food & hunt launched to capture it

WALT Disney World has partially closed one of its parks following a possible bear sighting.
Parts of the Magic Kingdom at the Orlando, Florida, theme park were closed around noon on Monday.
According to officials, the bear was spotted in a tree.
Disney’s My Disney Experience app showed several closed attractions.
Florida Fish and Wildlife managed to capture the adult bear and said they would move her out of the theme park and into or around the Ocala Forest, according to the local NBC affiliate WESH Reports.
“In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move around on their own, but given this situation, staff are working to capture and relocate the bear,” Florida Fish and Wildlife said.
“Bears are more active in the fall as they search for food to replenish their fat reserves for the winter.
“This particular bear was likely traveling through the area in search of food,” officials added.
The following attractions were closed:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Country Bear Jamboree
- Hall of Presidents
- Haunted house
- Jungle cruise
- Riverboat in Liberty Square
- Aladdin’s magic carpets
- Pirate adventure
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Swiss family tree house
- Tom Sawyer Island
- Walt Disney World Railroad
Just before 1 p.m., Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland reopened.
According to the outlet, those tasked with searching for the bear were seen carrying a large black figure wrapped in a white tarp around 1:15 p.m.
Magic Kingdom is one of Disney World’s most popular parks, with Cinderella’s famous castle right on Main Street.
