DJ Drama spoke openly about the beef between his label Generation Now, Lil Uzi Vert and Roc Nation.
Drama chopped it up on the Rory & Mal podcast.
“Generation Now we’ve had amazing success with Lil Uzi Vert. We’re in a great room. One of the reasons it was difficult for us is because Vert’s success was our success. Even with Roc Nation’s situation, Roc Nation was portrayed in the media as if they saved Lil Uzi Vert’s career. It was a free Uzi campaign. Roc Nation Save Lil Uzi. Save him from who?” he said.
In 2019, Uzi brought the label into high gear.
“And I love JAY-Z. He’s in my best rappers of all time. This isn’t necessarily a criticism of him per se. But come on. Why is the Spin Roc Nation saving Lil Uzi Vert’s career? Don’t make us out to be the bad guys. Fuck off with this bullsh-t from here,” he added.
