Dog left in hot car in Clearwater, police charge man with animal cruelty

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – Clearwater police have arrested a man and charged him with animal cruelty after he allegedly left his dog in a hot car when it was 93. poison.

Richard McKinley was arrested Sunday.

Police said the back window of his car was half-down and there was some water in the car for the dog, but it was much hotter inside than outside.

The dog crashed when it was found by the police, panting, drooling, sluggish and so hot it refused to drink water.

The dog was taken to the local veterinary hospital for examination.

McKinley was taken to prison.
