Dog rescued from water after swimming 1.5 miles off Union Beach, New Jersey coast

UNION BEACH, New Jersey — A dog was plucked from Raritan Bay after swimming a mile and a half off the coast of New Jersey on Monday.

10-year-old Siberian Husky named Caiden somehow managed to paddle deep into the bay on his own during Union Beach’s Independence Day celebrations.

The dog was sighted in distress and picked up by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Marine 1 Unit, according to the Union Beach Police Department.

The dog was reunited with its owner.

The dog was apparently not injured.
