Drake faces backlash after posting “creepy” Instagram story of unsuspecting woman

Drake has found himself in hot water after recently sharing a story on Instagram about an unsuspecting woman.

The ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ rapper is no stranger to controversy. He previously faced backlash over his questionable friendships with Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown and Billie Eilish, both of whom were teenagers when their friendships formed.

It seems Drake, who is currently on holiday in St Tropez, has always been a source of controversy as he is now in an uproar after posting what appeared to be a disturbing photo of an unsuspecting stranger to his Instagram story.

Dexerto blurred the woman’s face to protect her identity.

The rapper was at a restaurant when he shared a candid, zoomed-in photo to his 117million followers that showed a blonde woman seated at another table. The mystery woman who caught Drake’s attention was sitting with another man and appeared to be looking at her phone.

The caption reads, “Trying to send this woman a picture of herself from the air because she’s a dime” with a laughing, crying emoji.

While the encounter ended there, the opinions of social media users did not.

Social media users are reacting to Drake’s Instagram story

The rapper is receiving backlash on social media as the mystery woman appeared to have had no idea she was in front of the camera. Drake didn’t smudge the unsuspecting woman’s face before sharing it with his massive fan base.

A screenshot of the story was posted to a Reddit forum, where the OP wrote, “I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, this is so incredibly creepy (Drake posted this on his IG story).”

Most users agreed, with one writing: “Yes she is beautiful but he could have kept that to himself or been a normal person and started a conversation instead of posting this on his Instagram where he has MILLIONS of followers, who will now share in their opinion of her.”

Another user added, “I hate how commonplace it has become to take photos/videos of strangers in public. It literally scares me. It’s even worse for a celebrity because they should know better when it comes to privacy.”

Other users shared how uncomfortable they feel at the possibility of being caught in a stranger’s photo.

“I hate it. I totally understand that I’ll probably always end up in the background of someone’s picture or video, but that’s completely different than when they photograph/film you and then have the audacity to put it online,” wrote one user.

Another user agreed, writing, “I hate it so much, especially when it’s someone who is clearly having a bad day, I think about it every time I go to the shops dressed horribly.”

As it stands, Drake has yet to respond to the backlash and the disingenuous photo was not removed before it expired.
