Drivers warned as busy section of M8 to be shut IN DAYS

A busy section of a major highway is to be closed within a few days due to construction work.
The M8 will be closed to eastbound traffic between Junction 19 and Junction 16 for ten nights Monday 21st August to Thursday 31st August.
This is to ensure that work can take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The work will be carried out over night closures with signposted diversion routes in operation.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted to exit the motorway at Junction 18 St George’s Road/Great Western Road.
Traffic will then follow detours onto St George’s Cross, then onto St George’s Road and onto Garscube Road.

You will then continue on Dobbie’s Loan before rejoining the M8 eastbound at Junction 16 Craighall.
Junction 19 at Anderson and Junction 18 at Charing Cross will also be closed.
Traffic wishing to join the eastbound M8 will be diverted via North Street or St George’s Road and diverted onto the detour route at Junction 18.
Access for emergency vehicles will not be maintained during the entire work.
Vehicles entering the environmental zone for diversion must follow the signs at all times.
Any vehicles deviating from the published detour route may be subject to a fine by Glasgow City Council.
