Dua Lipa Is ‘So Deep Sorry’ After Unauthorized Dangerous Fireworks Explode & Injure Fans At Toronto Concert

Dua Lipa said she was “so deeply sorry” after a series of unauthorized fireworks were set off during her performance in Canada on Wednesday night. Videos circulating on social media appear to show fans dispersing as a series of firecrackers explode over the section of ground near the sound booth at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. Here’s what you need to know.

A number of fans were reportedly injured during the incident but did not require further treatment after being seen by medics at the venue. Lipa, who is on her Future Nostalgia Tour promoting her album of the same name, issued a statement on Instagram addressing what happened during the concert.

“Unauthorized fireworks exploded in the crowd during my performance in Toronto last night,” the 26-year-old singer wrote in a story. “Creating a safe and inclusive space at my shows is always my first priority and my team and I are just as shocked and confused by what is happening as all of you. There is an ongoing investigation into the events that took place.”

“Bringing this show to life for my fans has been such an amazing experience and I am so sorry for anyone who has been scared, felt unsafe or whose enjoyment of the show was compromised in any way.”

In a reported statement, the venue’s owner, Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment, said it was working with police to investigate the “reckless and dangerous act.” Fans online claimed that concert security’s bag checks at the entrance were not strict enough. A user on Twitter said the staff “barely checked any of the bags…they just seemed so rushed.”

In November 2021, Travis Scott’s packed Astroworld music festival turned into one of the deadliest concerts in history – with footage of fans charging through gates and avoiding security checks. As if that wasn’t enough, a giant screen fell down in Hong Kong this week, injuring two dancers in front of horrified fans at a concert by the hugely popular boy band Mirror.
