But when she receives devastating news in EastEnders next week, her husband Jay Brown makes a big decision.
The hairdresser’s health has deteriorated drastically in recent weeks as an actress Danielle Harald prepares to leave Albert Square after more than a decade.
Despite her condition, Lola was determined to work at Fox & Hare, but as her health deteriorated she was forced to say goodbye to the salon.
Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) is organizing a farewell karaoke party for Lola on BBC One next week.
Unfortunately, Lola is overwhelmed by the day’s events, especially when Kim struggles to find a karaoke machine.
She secretly retires outside, leaving Denise Fox (Diana community) Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) and Kathy Beale (Gillan Taylor) to realize she’s gone.
The trio of women panic when they can’t find her, and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) soon joins the search with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick).
Billy eventually finds a confused Lola on the floor in front of the gym and she panics when both her speech and mobility are impaired.
A debilitated Lola wakes up in the hospital with Ben, Jay and Billy by her side and soon receives the heartbreaking news that her palliative chemotherapy hasn’t worked.
Fully aware that Lola’s time is running out, Jay rushes her out of the hospital in later scenes with the idea of enjoying a day of fun at the seaside.
