EA starts rolling out a new PC app to replace Origin

It’s been two years since it announced it was working on its Origin PC client, and it’s now starting to roll out the new app to Windows users. The publisher says the EA app, which just completed its open beta, is its fastest and lightest PC client yet.

EA promises a streamlined design and suggests easier navigation. It seems that the app has improved social features too, as you can connect your EA account to platforms like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation – which could come in handy for games with cross-play support, such as and . You will have a custom EA ID, which should make it easy for your friends to recognize you.

The publisher says it will soon be inviting Origin users to upgrade to the new app. As you can imagine, all your stuff is there, including your games, saves, and friends list. It’s worth noting that the new client will only be available on Windows PCs for now. If you’re a macOS user, you’ll be using the Origin for Mac app for the foreseeable future. However, EA noted that there will be more to share on this front in the coming months.
