Early scoring spree lifts Galaxy to win over Colorado Rapids

The Galaxy scored three goals in nine minutes in the first half to earn an easy 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night.

The win put Galaxy (12-12-7) back in last playoff spot in the Western Conference, although they are level on points (43) with Real Salt Lake, who lost 2-1 to Cincinnati.

Gastón Brugman scored Galaxy’s first and final goals, both from assists by Riqui Puig, who also set up Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández’s 31st-minute goal to give Galaxy a 3-0 lead.

Raheem Edwards scored the Galaxy’s other goal in the 28th minute.

The Galaxy lost midfielder Douglas Costa to a red card in the 62nd minute.
