EastEnders fans were left open-mouthed as Bernie Taylor revealed her age ahead of the milestone celebration

EASTENDERS fans were stunned after Bernie Taylor revealed her age on tonight’s episode.

The character – played by Clair Norris – has been part of the BBC soap opera since June 2017.

During this time, Bernie miscarried, became fixated on diet pills, came out to her family, and became Rainie and Stuart’s surrogate wife.

With all that said, some EastEnders fans could be forgiven for thinking Bernie is older than them.

But on tonight’s episode, she revealed to Bobby Beale and Anna Knight that she has a milestone birthday coming up.

In a scene at the cafe, Bernie said, “This week is my birthday, yes, my 21st.”

Anna asked: “Yes? Do you have a big Taylor party planned?”

But Bernie replied, a little sadly: “Um, no, not really, it’s money, isn’t it?”

Anna told her to come to the Vic and get her father to open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate “on the house”.

But later, partly to get closer to Anna, Bobby went to the Vic and suggested that they actually throw Bernie a surprise birthday party at the Albert.

Some EastEnders viewers were surprised to learn Bernie’s age, with one tweeting: “Bernie only turns 21 (I thought she was a bit older to be honest).”

Another added: “Bernie only turns 21 this week?!”

A third tweeted: “Is Bernie really 20?”
