“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” actor Edie McClurg and her caretaker were allegedly molested by a man who claimed to be the former’s “longtime friend,” according to legal documents obtained by The Times.
In July, “Life in Pieces” actress Angelique Cabral accused Michael L. Ramos, who was her companion at McClurg’s home, of exploiting her cousin and a worker at the outpatient health service, JFS Care. McClurg lives with dementia.
The court initially allowed Ramos to stay at McClurg’s apartment, believing “he would keep her company.” Cabral, who serves as curator of McClurg’s estate, “was suspicious of Mr. Ramos’s motives from the start, watching him integrate into the lives of the Conservatee while she was battling dementia,” the ex- Parte petition was filed on July 15.
According to the documents, Ramos was able to “sneak into” McClurg’s apartment. Cabral accused Ramos of almost getting McClurg out of California to marry her before the court prevented it. McClurg and Ramos “have never been involved in a romantic relationship,” the petition reads.
Cabral also said that a JFS caregiver who cares for McClurg “had reported both orally and in writing that she had been sexually assaulted on more than one occasion by Mr. Ramos at the conservatee’s home.” The janitor has since filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department and has video evidence of Ramos’ actions, the filing said
Additionally, the JFS worker told Cabral she was concerned that Ramos “has attacked or may attack the Conservatee and that she may not even know this is happening to her.”
Cabral hired security guards but has not yet instructed them to stop Ramos from entering the home at the time the application was filed. Less than a week after filing the petition, Cabral filed a statement on July 25 calling for a “preliminary restraining order for protected elders” against Ramos.
“Mr. Ramos endangered and continues to endanger (daily) the health, welfare and safety of the Conservatee and all other caregivers staying with her at the Conservatee home,” the document reads.
Cabral also requested that the court schedule a hearing no earlier than August 15.
McClurg is best known for her role as Grace on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Her other credits include “Frozen,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” and “Carrie,” among others. In February 2019, the actor’s family applied for a conservatorship due to McClurg’s dementia.
