Engadget is looking for contributing writers in the US

If you love technology as much as we do and also have a talent for writing, we want to hear from you. Engadget is hiring freelance news writers in the US! Interested applicants please send a cover letter, CV and links to three writing samples jobs at engadget dot com. Here’s the deal:

Contributing Author

Engadget is looking for ambitious and enthusiastic freelance writers capable of telling compelling stories about technology, science and the future of everything. The ideal candidate puts important messages into the right context with minimal effort, finds an interesting and original angle to approach a story, explains complicated topics simply and clearly, and does all of this relatively quickly.

As a writer at Engadget, you are an integral part of our dedicated and passionate news team. Our ideal candidates have solid professional media experience, but we’re also open to young writers who are ready to commit. You’ll gain valuable experience and exposure in a fast-paced online newsroom. Plus, you’ll have access to some of the industry’s best writers and reporters who can provide you with valuable lessons on how to thrive in the modern media landscape.

Freelance writers take on between three and five assignments per day (sometimes between 8am and 9pm ET, but your exact schedule is negotiable). We are currently looking for writers in the US or who are willing to work during US business hours. The shift lasts at least four hours.

We search for:

  • Preferably someone who’s already had a few professional engineering/science/auto factories under his belt.

  • Familiarity with and genuine interest in consumer technology.

  • A writer with a strong, lively voice who can deliver clean writing quickly.

  • Works well with others and is receptive to feedback.

  • Experience with Photoshop or other image editing programs is an advantage.

All products recommended by Engadget are selected by our editorial team independently from our parent company. Some of our stories contain affiliate links. If you buy something through one of these links, we may receive an affiliate commission.
