England, US fans face ticket issues

Thousands of fans, including supporters from England and the United States, faced chaos at the World Cup in Qatar on Monday when the FIFA app crashed, meaning they were unable to access their tickets.

An organizer of an American fan group confirmed to ESPN that tickets on the FIFA ticketing app that fans wanted to use to enter the stadium had “disappeared” from accounts, and fans were also unable to transfer tickets to people they were using they wanted to attend The US men’s national team game against Wales kicks off at 10pm local time.

Fans struggling have been instructed to go to the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center in Doha’s West Bay area. A line of approximately 500 fans could be seen outside the building, with fans increasingly concerned that they would not be able to attend the game.

On England v Iran, some users reported that tickets had disappeared from the application entirely, while others were sent to either stadium-specific help centers or the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in West Bay, to resolve various issues including the inability to register at all .

Sources told ESPN that FIFA is aware of the issues and is working to resolve them. England took on Iran at 4pm local time, with hundreds of fans still trying to gain access to the ground as the players exited the Khalifa International Stadium.

Further delays outside the stadium were caused by what some England fans called “overly strict” security measures.

The USMNT team plays Wales at 10pm local time and some fans have been urged to head to West Bay where they will be given a printed ticket.

FIFA said in a statement: “Some viewers are currently experiencing an issue accessing their tickets via the FIFA ticketing app. FIFA is working on a solution to the problem. In the meantime, fans who are unable to access their mobile tickets should check the email accounts they used to register with the ticketing app for further instructions.”

“If fans cannot access their email accounts, the stadium’s Ticket Resolution Point can help. We thank fans for their understanding as we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
