Erykah Badu defends having 3 baby fathers

Erykah Badu has it tough sometimes having three kids by three different men… but she says while she didn’t plan it that way, she won’t let that stop her from living her best life.

“No one would expect to have three little dads. Who is planning this?” she said on The Breakfast Club. “But when these things happen, you don’t stop living. You keep growing and living and learning and making the best of those situations and things. Who would want to do that? In this judgmental society.”

She continued, “Love is a chemical thing. We fell in love. I think God lets us fall in love just long enough to get pregnant so we can move on and procreate to keep the race going and that dies away and then the rest is up to you. Depending on your culture, the next step is marriage or the next step is another partner. In our culture, our next step is supposed to be marriage, and that doesn’t suit everyone. That doesn’t suit me.”

Badu has one child with Andre 3000, another with rapper DOC, and her youngest child is the daughter of rapper Jay Electronica.
