PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — It has been three months since a young man who had just graduated from Temple University was shot dead in Philadelphia’s Powelton area.
Everett Beauregard, 23, was killed just before 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22 near the Drexel University campus.
Police believe Beauregard was killed at random.
The shooter remains at large.
On Tuesday, his grieving family gathered at the spot where he was killed at the 400 block of North 35th Street as their quest for justice continued.
Beauregard’s parents wanted to let us know how special their son was.
“He was a 23-year-old on the cusp of the world,” his mother Leslie said. “He had just graduated from Temple. He was ready to start his MBA.”
“The amount of people he’s touched and helped and the things he’s done in just 23 years … maybe he kind of, cosmically, knew he only had a short time,” his father Eric said.
They believe someone out there knows who killed their son and wanted to ask the public for help.
“We just want to find this one person who is doing the right thing and let the police know who that person is,” Eric Beauregard said. “Or let the person find their conscience.”
In surveillance video released by the police, the suspect is wearing a mask.
But police and the Beauregards are confident someone will still be able to identify the suspect.
“Maybe you don’t want to show that person because they’re a friend or family member, but at the same time, the person they know isn’t the person anymore. You’re a killer now,” Eric said.
“This person has a mother and maybe deep in their heart they have this idea, yes, it’s their child, and maybe they could do the right thing,” Leslie said.
Philadelphia has a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in an unsolved murder.
Anyone with information should call the police at 215-686-3334/3335.
