There are few Netflix shows that fans love more than virgin river, And to their delight, they’ll be getting a lot more of them in the future. Not only Virgin River Season 5 will be released in autumn 2023, but Netflix has already announced this Virgin River Season 6 is in the works.
It’s no surprise that Netflix wants to keep the hit romantic drama series going for as long as possible. Alexandra Breckenridge recently expressed her hopes that the series will be renewed for season six, and the Mel Monroe actress has granted her wish – as have we all!

Virgin River season 6 is officially renewed
On May 17, the streamer announced the exciting news during Netflix’s first preview Virgin River was renewed for a sixth season. Virgin River Season 6 will be renewed ahead of the September 2023 release of Season 5.
How many episodes will there be? Virgin River Season 6? At the time of the renewal, it’s unclear what the plans are as to the number of episodes. The first three seasons of the show had 10 episodes each, while seasons 4 and 5 have 12 each. It remains to be seen whether The Writers’ Strike will impact future episode counts for Netflix shows, however we expect 10 or 12 episodes in Season 6.
When will Virgin River Season 5 be out?
Although Virgin River While fans had hoped that season 5 would follow suit with seasons 3 and 4 and release in July 2023, Netflix announced that the release date has been pushed back. Virgin River Season 5 will begin airing on Thursday, September 7th. The wait is longer than usual, but at least Netflix doesn’t appear to be splitting the season into two parts spread over several months.
When will Virgin River season 6 be filmed?
As much as Virgin River Fans will wish that season 6 filming could start immediately, it just isn’t possible right now. While filming for Season 5 began around the release of Season 4, don’t expect the cast and crew to get back to work until much later this year at the earliest.
It’s unclear if the writers were able to start work on Season 6 before the strike, but it’s likely they were The work stoppage could last for months if an agreement is not honored. Be so, Virgin River Season 6 filming may not begin until fall or winter of 2023, or even 2024, depending on what’s written. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
