Because The Witcher is one of Netflix’s larger productions and includes many visual effects to perfect the world. It takes longer from filming to the release of the new episodes than some other series. Now, if filming can start very early in 2024, it’s possible we’ll still see a December 2024 release, but that seems unlikely, so plan for the next part in 2025.

Aside from the returning cast members, The Witcher Several new people are likely to be cast in Season 4. Rednan Intelligence believes that South African actor Sharlto Copley (district 9) was cast as one of Ciri’s most prominent adversaries, Leo Bonhart.
The third season’s mention of Bonhart’s cousin, the formidable bounty hunter and influential businessman Dominik Bombastus Houvenaghel, lends credibility to this theory.
In The Witcher Season 3 Episode 2: Yennefer has to kill one of Houvenaghels to protect Ciri after she frees his prisoner. Yennefer tells Ciri that Houvenaghel wants revenge for this. The fact that his name was mentioned in season three suggests the writers are planning for his (and Bonhart’s) eventual arrival.

- Zoltan Chivay, dwarf and old friend of Geralt
- Regis the vampire
- Sheala de Tancarville, Creyden Sorceress and founding member of the Sorceress Lodge

Recap of The Witcher season 3 ending
If you need a reminder of how The Witcher Season 3 has come to an end, here is the state of the finale.
Big spoilers ahead The Witcher season 3
At the end of the season, Geralt has just left Brokilon Forest with Jaskier and Milva after recovering from his fight with Vilgefortz. He plans to hunt down Vilgefortz and Emhyr in Nilfgaard to find Ciri, unaware that she was sent to the Korath Desert by Tor Lara and has now joined the criminal gang known as “The Rats”. Ciri has also started playing Falka.
Elsewhere, after Tissaia’s suicide, Yennefer begins founding the Lodge of Sorceresses to make the world a safer place for Ciri’s return. In Redania, Philippa orchestrated the death of King Wizimir and placed his brother Radovid on the throne.
What is Season 4 of The Witcher about?
Ciri will likely be the center of attention in the new season as well, following her life with the Rats. Geralt’s storyline is more of a traditional adventure as he, Jaskier and Milva begin their journey to Nilfgaard. In baptism of fireAlong the way, they meet several interesting characters, including a vampire named Regis. The show will also likely cast the dwarf Zoltan Chivay, and Geralt will likely cross paths with Cahir again.
Yennefer’s storyline is a bit more complicated as the series has made some changes. We’ll likely see more of her political quarrels with the Sorceress’ Lodge.
In baptism of fire, the Lodge forces Yennefer to help them find Ciri for their agenda. Francesca holds Yennefer captive, imprisoned in a jade figurine. It is Fringilla who helps Yennefer escape. It will be interesting to see how that plays out and if anything changes when the show is adapted.
In the Metro UK article mentioned above, Andrew Laws teased that the next season would greatly expand the continent’s lore and world:
The most important thing I can share is that our world is going to get even bigger in season four. So we’re starting to explore new parts of the continent that will be familiar to fans but we haven’t seen in our series yet.
So we are looking at different location options both in the UK and outside the UK for different parts of the stories. At this point we know what our season looks like. Since we already have scripts, we’re still making progress on developing locations and concepts for sets etc.
Will the rats be in Season 4 of The Witcher?
The Rats are rumored to have their own spin-off in production, but it sounds like Netflix is turning it into a movie instead of a series. It will likely be a prequel or take place before her encounter with Ciri, so yes, the rats will likely feature prominently in season four because they are important to Ciri’s storyline.
Has The Witcher been renewed for Season 5?
It sounds like Netflix has already renewed The Witcher for another season, based on a recent interview with casting director Sophie Holland.
Jaskier actor Joey Batey also narrated gay times the following:
A lot of our conversations revolved around the question, “What’s the history of LGBTQ+ relationships in this world of dragons and other things?” So that’s an ongoing conversation that I’m really looking forward to. share with the world not only in season three, but also in seasons four and fiveFind out where Jaskier lands.
