Capcom today used its Summer Showcase event to unveil some new details about Exoprimal, the upcoming action shooter game in which players control warriors in exosuits as they battle rampaging hordes of dinosaurs. A runaway AI named Leviathan unleashes these dinosaurs through cracks in the sky, forcing humans to fend them off in complicated (and frankly inexplicable) war games – usually involving high risk of death and destruction of urban landscapes.
The main event of Exoprimal is called Dino Survival, where you join a multiplayer team of five and compete against another team to achieve very specific goals.
These mission objectives are varied and dynamic. In Dinosaur Cull, your team must hunt down and defeat a specific dinosaur. VTOL Defense requires your team to protect a grounded aircraft as the oncoming reptiles swarm around it. Data Key Security is an escort style mission where you have to get a specific asset from one location to the next. Omega Charge is a mission in which players have access to a swarm-dissolving Omega Hammer. And as you might guess, Energy Taker is all about gathering more energy than the opposing team.
Interestingly, Exoprimal includes sequences where you attack enemy players directly, but also moments where you team up to take down particularly dangerous threats. No matter who you fight, you’ll earn XP to level up both your player character and their exosuit levels.
Capcom said Exoprimal will soon be participating in a closed network test that should allow players to get a taste of the action. If you are interested, you can register at exoprimal.com.
Exoprimal is targeting a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam release sometime in 2023.
