Fans cry as show dedicates opening dance to Amy Dowden during her cancer treatment

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left very emotional when the first dance of the series – featuring the four famous judges – was dedicated to Amy Dowden.
Professional dancer Amy, 33, is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May.
Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman sent their congratulations to the star as the stars performed a dance in honor of their “Welsh dragon”.
Tess Daly said: “We are of course missing one of our professional dancers, our beautiful Amy Dowden is not well and cannot be with us at the start of the series.”
“She is our Welsh dragon and we know she will be back soon.”
While Claudia said: “Amy, from your entire Strictly family we send you all our love and can’t wait to have you back on the dance floor.”
The group saw judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke perform alongside the professionals on a medley of songs including Afraid To Feel by LF System, Kylie’s Padam Padam and Higher by Michael Buble.
Those watching at home took to Twitter to discuss the touching moment. One person wrote: “#Strictly aww yes sending so much love to Amy! Bless you.”
A second said: “A bit emotional with that shout out to Amy.”
While a third burst into a series of tears Emojis and added: “They’re doing a dance tribute to Amy.”
Just yesterday, Amy shared an update after undergoing her final round of chemotherapy which left her seriously ill.
She told her followers: “Chemo 4✅ Was extremely sick despite three types of anti-diseases. Also very tired. I’m going to rest.”
Amy picked it up Instagram this evening and shared a picture of her joining the team for the group photoshoot.
She wrote: “My smile the other day after spending all tea with the Strictly family.
“So grateful and lucky to have you all. Tune in tonight.
“I can’t wait to support all my friends and their amazing trips this year and I’ll be there when I can.”
