FHP: Burning car in Orange County leaves one woman injured

A crash in Orange County left one driver injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP said the two vehicles collided on Chickasaw Road and 408 Road shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday. An SUV trying to turn left onto Chickasaw Road ran a red light. Witnesses told investigators, and another car crashed into the back of the SUV. A crash in Orange County left one driver injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP said the two cars collided on Chickasaw Trail and State Road 408 shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.

An SUV attempting to turn left onto Chickasaw Trail ran a red light, witnesses told investigators, and another vehicle crashed into the rear of the SUV.

According to FHP, the SUV hit the curb and railing before overturning and bursting into flames.

Witnesses were able to get the driver, a 71-year-old woman from Haines City, out of the SUV. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the FHP, the other vehicle involved did not stop after the collision.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a white sedan, and FHP said the vehicle also suffered damage to its left front headlight.

The crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
