Fighting Rages in Eastern Ukraine as Zelensky Warns of More Russian Missile Attacks

KYIV, Ukraine—Heavy fighting broke out in eastern Ukraine, as Moscow denied Kyiv’s claims that Russia was preparing to give up a nuclear power plant in the south of the country it has occupied since March.

In the eastern region of Donetsk, Russia is struggling to take the city of Bakhmut and achieve a symbolic victory after months of marginalization. Recent successful Ukrainian attacks have returned most of the northeastern region of Kharkiv and the important southern region’s capital Kherson to Kyiv control.
