A fire near the Hansen Dam in Pacoima resulted in the evacuation of about 1,000 people from a nearby water center, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The bushfire was reported around 3:15 p.m. in the 12000 block of Montague Street. By 5:30 p.m., the fire had spread to about 12 acres, with winds up to 10 miles per hour.
The Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, which houses a town bath and recreational lake, was evacuated as the fire continued to spread.
According to the fire department, the fire was completely contained by 7:45 p.m.
According to the fire department, no injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged. The emergency services stayed on site on Friday evening to eliminate the source of the fire.
