Food fans gutted as popular Glasgow restaurant announces shock closure

The BOSSES of a much-loved Scots restaurant has announced that they will be closing this weekend.
Bar Soba, in Glasgow, announced its shock closure on social media on Friday.
The popular eatery, in the city’s Byres Road area, will close for the last time tonight.
The restaurant – which specializes in Asian fusion-inspired street food – was opened following the success of two other branches in Glasgow.
The owners took to Facebook to make the sad announcement.
The post read: “Public announcement.


Bar Soba Byres Road will be closed permanently on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
“Our sister locations Bar Soba Merchant City & Bar Soba Mitchell Lane will remain open, so please visit us here after this date!”
Avid fans of the restaurant expressed regret over the loss of their favorite lunch spot.
One said: “Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Favorite place to eat in the West End.”
Another added: “What a shame to love this place”.
Another wrote: “So sad to read this”.
While the fourth person interjected: “Ghost!”
Bar Soba was founded in 1999 and quickly became famous for its great food, street style service, cocktails and live DJs.
The first restaurant to open was the one on Mitchell Lane in Glasgow before expanding to Byres and Merchant City Streets.
Other branches were also opened in Edinburgh and Leeds.
Restaurant fans can still visit other branches in Mitchell Lane and Merchant City.
