Former ‘Bachelor’ star ‘unwell’ after engagement

Bachelor Nation alum Alexis Waters is a dedicated woman. Longtime love Tyler Fernandez proposed while celebrating her 30th birthday with family and friends on a boat in Miami, Fla., she revealed on her Instagram Story.

Rachel Lindsay first broke the news on her Instagram story, according to Us Weekly. Sharing a video of the newly engaged couple on March 25, 2023, she wrote, “Omg @Alexiswaters_ I’m so happy for you! I can not handle this!!! Congratulations.”

The next day, Waters posted a selfie on her Instagram Story showing off her oval-cut diamond ring. In the snapshot she is lying in bed with a captain’s hat. “30, engaged & ill…” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you everyone for all the love this weekend.”

Fans first met Waters on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor when she exited the limousine in a shark costume that she claimed was a dolphin. She also briefly participated in the fourth season of Bachelor in Paradise.

A Bachelor Nation fan account shared a video of the proposal on Instagram, in which one commenter wrote, “Is that the dolphin girl?!”

Waters replied, “YES AND I SAW DOLPHINS RIGHT AFTER HE DOES IT.”

The couple went public with their relationship in September 2017 and became official on Instagram shortly after their season of Bachelor in Paradise aired. A year later, Waters announced on Instagram that they had moved in together. Speaking to Us Weekly in April 2022, Waters explained that there’s no reason to rush an engagement.

“The only jewelry I’m worried about now is hoops,” she told the outlet. “I mean, we’re both working hard right now to just focus on our businesses. We know we’re going to be together so there’s no rush and he’s a bit lucky because I’m young. So he has time.”

Waters is the founder of Hoops Nation By Alexis and host of the podcast Girls Night with Alexis Waters.

Waters may not have found love on TV, but Bachelor Nation worked through their engagement in a roundabout way. In a 2018 tweet, she thanked Kaitlyn Bristowe for creating a domino effect that led her to Fernandez.

“I honestly have to thank @kaitlynbristowe for not picking @viallnicholas28 who went on to become the #bachelor where I met @TheRachLindsay who introduced me to my husband-to-be ❤️ #IsThatCreepy?” she wrote on Twitter.

Viall competed in two seasons of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise before landing a franchise lead role. Lindsay was one of Waters’ co-stars this season.

Alexis Waters’ Bachelor Nation Friends celebrated their engagement

Waters’ mother, Tracey, celebrated her daughter’s big day on Instagram and shared photos of the proposal.

“She said yes!!!! ❤️💍Happy birthday to our daughter Alexis and Tyler!” Tracey captioned the carousel, “To new beginnings!! Happy birthday Alexis!!💐. #wherearemysunglasses 🤣😆”

Waters Bachelor Nation friends celebrated the news in their comments.

“Love these. That last pic makes me smile so much,” Astrid Loch wrote, referencing a photo of Waters posing with her mother and sister.

Danielle Lombard, who also took part in The Bachelor season 21, commented: “What a way to bring in your 30’s 🥳😍❤️ Happy birthday Tracey! Couldn’t be happier for you and your family!”

Another franchise fan favorite, Raven Gates added, “So happy for her and you all ❤️”
