Former Champion returns to face Veer Mahaan at WWE event

While many might expect him to return to TV, former WWE NXT champion Robert Roode appeared after a month-long absence in Canton, Ohio over the weekend.

Roode has been away from WWE TV for almost two months now, last appearing on the eve of WrestleMania 38. Prior to that, he was partnered with Dolph Ziggler since 2019.

At the Canton Civic Center on Saturday, Veer Mahaan confronted the returning Robert Roode, who appears to have reverted to his original “Glorious” character. He even used his old theme and titantron when he entered the portal.

Robert Roode Wrestling Last On WWE TV Early April

Robert Roode last competed in the Andre giant Andre tribute Battle Royale on SmackDown before WrestleMania 38, where he sought to carve his name into history. Unfortunately for Roode, he failed to do so as Madcap Moss eventually won the Battle Royale.

Roode has not been seen since. That is, until this weekend when he appeared in two WWE Live Events Saturday and Sunday, causing Veer Mahaan to lose in a row.

However, it appears that the pair Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler (The Dirty Dawgs) have fallen apart because Ziggler last wrestled in April when he lost the NXT championship to Bron Breakker during an episode of RAW.

Furthermore, while tagging with Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode will be releasing a remixed version of the “Glorious” input that has been mixed with Ziggler’s theme music. This past weekend, however, Roode released his old first track, hinting that the tag team may no longer be together.

Roode has enjoyed success as a tag team opponent in the past, but fans can be excited to see what he can do as a singles competitor in 2022. His first time joining NXT helped him gain popularity, especially when he won the NXT Championship in January 2017.

The Glorious One held the championship for more than 200 days before handing it over to Drew McIntyre in August of that year.
