TV presenter LAURA Whitmore has shared her heartache after the loss of a close friend.
The 38-year-old former Love Island host announced that her photographer friend Jay McLaughlin had sadly passed away from stage IV cancer.
Laura shared a touching tribute on social media today, along with a picture of Jay and a series of shots he’s taken of her throughout her career, including special milestones.
The devastated star wrote: “Have spoken a lot about my friend Jay McLaughlin who is a very talented photographer and his account @jaymclaughlin_irl who documents his life with stage four cancer.”
“Unfortunately we lost Jay.
“We had prepared for the worst, but you never fully understand it.
“He’s been a part of, and photographed, so many phases of my life — photoshoots, BTS, headshots, birthdays… not to mention our shared love of Star Wars.”
She added, “I know he was in a lot of pain towards the end, so I hope he’s freed from the bondage his body has put on him.”
“Rest in the Force, he was a force I have known forever.”
Laura fans ran to offer their condolences.
One wrote: “So sorry to hear that. Best regards.”
Another posted: “So sorry you lost Laura. Despite the inevitability, it doesn’t alleviate the feeling that the ground has been removed from beneath you. I was touched to see his raw and honest posts about his cancer. I don’t want to.” to use the word “struggle” as it bestows a sort of heroic majesty on this vile disease. I send my best regards to all his family and friends.”
A third added: “I’m so sorry to hear this devastating news. I took some of my favorite photos of you. I captured your radiance and your smile. I am thinking of his family at this painful time. Sending you all my love and thoughts.”
