The current plan sees Fury and Usyk square off in an undisputed showdown and Joshua and Wilder square off in a long overdue grudge match.

But these plans could end up being shattered by Britain’s Daniel Dubois.

The WBA ordered Usyk to defend his title against Dubois in April, but a deal has yet to materialize.

But should the fight, which was a cash prize, not go ahead, the WBA will direct Usyk to fight former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder.

Experienced boxing reporter Dan Rafael announced the newsHe writes, “Shouldn’t Dubois be available to take part in the title fight with Usyk?” Summerwhether because of the knee or some other reason, WBA President Gilberto Mendoza told Fight Freaks Unite that Dubois would lose his position as mandatory challenger.

“And that the organization would order Usyk to instead defend against former WBC titlist Deontay Wilder, who is ranked No. 1 by the WBA.”

Ordering a fight between Usyk and Wilder would thwart the Saudis’ winter plans.

However, it could lead to a potentially thrilling Battle of England battle between Joshua and Fury.

However, negotiations are still ongoing over whether Fury and Usyk will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in almost 25 years.

Although once again they have come to a standstill.

Pound-for-pound king Usyk told it ring: “[We’re] in a dead end.

“The fight will happen sooner or later. And everything is decided in the ring.”

Joshua vs Wilder, meanwhile, is still in the works – although AJ promoter Eddie Hearn has since revealed he could accept a warm-up bout against Dillian Whyte.

The Matchroom Boxing chief said: “If they [the Saudis] can not get [Tyson] Fury-Usyk over the line, they’ll still play AJ against Wilder.

“You get the numbers we want and then we work backwards on that for the August fight that he has.” [Joshua] will have.

“We all think he needs that fight in August and more time with it.” [trainer] Derrick James, more prep for Deontay Wilder, and that’s it.

“Who we choose will depend on whether we close the Wilder deal.”

“I like the Dillian Whyte fight [for Joshua]. Whether he makes the Wilder fight or not, I like this fight.

“I think it’s a fight that AJ will champion.

“I think it’s a fight he can take on with some resentment and it’s a fight that’s dangerous.”
