Fox Isn’t Divisive, it Just Takes Criticism Because of High Ratings

Rupert Murdoch is aging and running the Fox News network largely belongs to his two sons, Lachlan and James. While there was some hope that the young men would tone down some of the network’s rhetoric, it quickly became clear that that was unlikely.

Lachlan Murdoch, certainly the more Conservative of the two brothers, recently spoke to Axios about the future of the network. He had a vague answer when asked about Fox’s split.

“I think when you’re in the news business, and you’re number one… you get a lot of heat and it just comes with territory,” Murdoch said of the criticism.

Murdoch also said in an interview last week, “I think the world is more divided and competitive than it has been, you know, for a very long time. I think about the buzz around it, a lot of it being politicized… And so you have to be tough on it. ”

Fox executives also responded to a letter recently sent by Chuck Schumer asking the network to stop promoting the Great Alternative Theory. “Unfortunately, it comes with territory,” says Murdoch. “You have to realize what it is and some of it is that kind of organized attack – very coordinated – but what it is.”
