Freezing temperatures make their way into Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — After a steady dose of rain and some excitement, the temperature in Philadelphia has now dropped below freezing.

But despite the bitter cold, the Christmas spirit continued in the Christmas village next to the town hall.

But mostly everyone gathered indoors and not even a seat by the fire seemed appealing.

As for the sellers, it’s been a tough few days for sales.

“We’re usually busy on Fridays, but because of the cold, we’re not as busy as we’d like,” said Jade Jimenez of Whoops Macaroons and Gifts.

But she says her macaroons are perfect for a night indoors. However, you only have to take a short trip to get them.

“Cuddle with anyone, a dog or a pet. These are perfect and delicious,” said Jimenez.

But at the Chosen 300 Ministries in Spring Garden, they did their part to warm things up.

They held a service and had those who needed it get a new warm winter coat.

During the Christmas holiday weekend they will be holding events at their Spring Garden location in West Philadelphia and Pottstown.

“We simply return and pass on God’s love and extend God’s goodness and love to people who need it badly. People need coats, people need warmth and a place to stay, so we’re going to do all of that tonight,” said executive director Brian Jenkins.

Around 5:00 p.m. on a Christmas Eve, there is a meal and gift for children in need at Chosen 300 Pottstown

The location is 150 N Hanover Street; Pottstown in the Lower Plains by Emmanuel Lutheran.

Her second event is on Christmas Day. It is a meal and gift for children needed at Chosen 300 West Philadelphia.

The location is Chosen 300 West Philadelphia, 3959 Lancaster Ave.
