From Fallen Order 2 To The Mandalorian 3: What To Expect From This Weekend’s Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration begins tomorrow in Anaheim, California. I’ve had the pleasure of attending this show a number of times over the years and find it light-hearted, exciting and one of the best places to people-watch thanks to the plethora of Stormtroopers, Jedi and astromech droids that roam the halls stripe

Disney and Lucasfilm always bring a few surprises to Celebration, and I have a feeling we’re going to see quite a few of them this year. The show runs through Sunday and should be packed with announcements. Here’s what I’m expecting to see and how you can tune in to see the revelations as they happen:

Thursday, May 26th

New TV shows and movies

Most of us will probably watch the first two episodes of Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi This weekend, and more information on this show and what’s next for TV and theater will likely be revealed during Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase at 11 a.m. PT. We’ll probably see the first teaser trailer for Andorthe live-action series that spins out of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with Diego Luna. That could be followed by a look at the second season of the animated series. Bad batch. If Lucasfilm wants live audiences to erupt, don’t be surprised if the showcase ends with a teaser for season 3 of The Mandalorian (although this could be saved for Jon Favreau’s panel later in the show).

These showcases are always packed with star power, and I have to assume Ewan McGregor will be there. Pedro Pascal is also likely with an animatronic grogu in hand. The biggest surprises would be information (and possibly teaser images) from the announced Star Wars films by Taika Waititi and Patty Jenkins.

The YouTube link below will take you to the showcase when it kicks off:

What comes on books

After a brief hiatus, we catch up on the next series of Star Wars books and comics in the Lucasfilm Publishing: Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Panelwhich starts at 1 p.m. PT. We’ll likely get more looks at Marvel Comics’ Obi-Wan prequel series, which features him as a youth, as well as the upcoming one Mandalorian comic adaptation. Lucasfilm’s official description for the panel outlines the other publishers who will be on stage: “From adult fiction to children’s comics, from the High Republic era to the rise of the First Order, this is the place to delve deeper into the stories a galaxy far, far away. Featuring details on new and upcoming titles from Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, Dark Horse and more! Including brand new announcements and revelations from a galaxy far, far away!”

For your collector’s shelves

Statues, props and other collectibles are discussed over the long hour and a half Star Wars collectibles panel, start at 2:30 p.m. PT. The official Star Wars listing for this panel promises “a surprise or two along the way.” I guess we’ll see some Obi-Wan collectible announcements.

The High Republic

While we’ll learn a little bit about the future of The High Republic in the release panel, along the way we’ll be delving deeper into what’s coming next The High Republic: For Light and Life Panelstarts at 3 p.m. PT. The focus will be on Phase II of this ongoing lore: Quest of the Jedi.

Friday May 27th

LEGO!

For this hour Summer of Lego Star Wars Panel brings together The Lego Group and Lucasfilm to discuss the recently released Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game along with some upcoming set announcements. We also hope that new DLCs for the game will be shown. The panel starts at 1:30 p.m. PT.

The Black Series

Hasbro always brings some big action figure announcements to the party, and we have a feeling Obi-Wan will be a big focus this year. A new Inquisitor lightsaber from the series is rumored to be on the way. I also expect to see a lot from the Black Series and Vintage Collection Hasbro Star Wars Blackboard. News of him will start beating as it unfolds 3:30 p.m. PT.

Saturday May 28th

The Mandalorian

From here we will probably see the most The Mandalorian‘s third season. Both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will be on stage to discuss the future of their show. We’ll likely learn about other projects that come out of it as well. Expect another animatronic grogu. That Mando+: A Conversation with Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni Panel begins at 11 a.m. PT.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2

The first Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game was announced during a panel, but it seems a meeting with the creative team isn’t on the cards this year. Having said that, I think we’ll see a trailer on the internet one of the days of the show, along with a few details. It could also be part of Lucasfilm’s kick-off showcase, which would give it the biggest spotlight of the weekend.
